Bluewater

Like all MIT Sailing programs, Mashnee is a learning boat. No experience is required: if you want to learn to sail a big boat, sign up and come sailing!

You do not need to take a formal class to start sailing Mashnee. You will learn a lot by stepping onboard, participating, and asking questions. The Bluewater Crew rating is a way to organize and track your developing skills: earning it demonstrates your competence as a crewmember on Mashnee, from setting sails to handling emergencies. Classes at various levels will also be offered throughout the season. The Bluewater Skipper rating is for sailors with experience who want to take a leadership role in the program, including running trips on Mashnee.
