Intro For Experienced Sailors

This class serves as an orientation for members of the MIT Community who already know how to sail but are new to MIT Sailing.
Class attendees must have current access to DAPER facilities (aka Athletic membership, included for all MIT students).
This one-day class will be about 1.5 – 2 hours long and will cover:
- Tour of the facility – what we have and where it all is – how you can use it!
- Detailed rigging demo of a Tech Dinghy.
- Launching and landing demos
This orientation happens in tandem with day one of the 1-2-3 beginner sailing course. This orientation does not include time on the water, but you will be welcome to sail on your own time after taking the class. The dockstaff will be available for any questions or tips!
Requirements:
- You learned to sail elsewhere or need an in-person Pavilion refresher
- You want to sail at MIT
- You can swim
- You are a member of the MIT community or have an MIT Recreation membership
