Race 'Nevermore' in Boston Harbor Islands Race
Sat 26-Sep-2009 | 07:30-19:30 |
Registration End: | 16-September-2009 at midnight |
Description
Day-race among Boston Harbor islands.
This race is a "pursuit race" in which the boats in each racing class start racing in reverse order of their expected speed based on their racing handicaps. So theoretically, all the boats in each class could be crossing the finish line at the same time, making for an exciting time for racers and for spectators ashore on Georges Island.
The race is sponsored by a non-profit aliance that supports the Boston Harbor Islands national park area.
The course and other information are given at URL http://www.islandalliance.org/regatta.asp and there's also a link to the Sailing Instructions from that page.
We try to have a mix of experienced racers, and some people familiar with Nevermore. Also, we try to find a place for less experienced sailors too, especially ones working on their ratings at the sailing pavilion and/or participating and learning racing in the Tech Dinghies!!
Crew not well-known to the skipper can submit a SHORT sailing résumé to t-e.spettel@att.net You can find résumé subject ideas at URL http://home.att.net/~t-e.spettel/Aleida_racecrew_resume.txt (read "Nevermore" for "Aleida") These ideas will be most helpful to NEWER sailors, who probably won't know what's important in ocean racing, or who don't realize their newby sailing experience in the Charles is more valuable than they think.
