Bluewater ocean day-sail on 'Nevermore' 37-foot sailboat
Sun 17-Aug-2008 | 10:00-18:00 |
Registration End: | 16-August-2008 at midnight |
Description
Sail in Boston Harbor and out into Mass Bay / Atlantic Ocean. !0 AM to 6 PM, can stay out to 7:30 if we all want to.
The destination will depend on the winds and sea-gods. Marblehead or Manchester-by-the-Sea might give a landfall to the north, Scituate tothe south, or we may spend time among the Boston Harbor islands if there's not much wind.
Meet on the boat, moored off Rowes Wharf, before 10 AM. See directions at URL http://sailing.mit.edu/bluewater/directions.php
Read over the Bluewater FAQ if you're not familiar with big-boat or ocean sailing; it gives hints on what clothes, etc., to bring. Bring your own lunch, maybe some munchies & your favorite drink.
The "Gate B" indicator mentioned in the web's directions is on a tall black piling in the dock area. Double-check with the launch driver that you ARE on the Boston Harbor Sailing launch (we had one sailor get a water-taxi by mistake.)
Call Thom on his cell 781-354-1113 if you get lost or confused. Also call when you DO get to the dock in case we can consolidate the launch trips to the boat; this is not required, but the launch drivers prefer it. Of course, call if you CAN''T make the trip. BTW, the skipper's cell won't be reachable in the "T" from maybe 9 - 9:30 AM.
Sending the skipper an email with your cellphone number might prove helpful; Or to ask any questions you have...
[NOTE: Friday 4 PM'ish Thom is resetting the Max. Participants value from 8 to 6 because a couple of people have indicated they want to go but can't officially register yet. If you get locked out, email Thom directly and we'll see if you can come aboard.]
