Description
NOTE: Class limit 8 people, pre-registration is mandatory, you must be a MITNA member with a Provisional Rating!
Due to the overwhenming response we had for the first Introduction to Windsurfing class in the summer, we decided to hold another class before the water gets too cold.
The class will be about two hours long and concentrate on rigging a windsurf and general rig handling.
You must have a provisional rating in order to join this class, no exceptions.
When learning to windsurf it is very useful to understand the basic ideas behind sailing. Please be fully proficient with the following terms:
- Tacking and jibing.
- Understanding of going updwind and downwind.
- Know the major parts of a rig: main sail, boom, downhaul, outhaul, boom bang.
- Be very conformtable getting wet: you will do a lot of swimming during this class!
Regardless of wind conditions the class will start at 5:30pm with the rigging and general board handling demo. As much as possible the students will go out on a board. We have four boards available for the class, so we may have to "share" the boards during the class.
