Boston Harbor Islands RACE 37-foot sloop "Nevermore"

Sat 27-Sep-200808:30-19:00
Registration End:26-September-2008 at midnight

Description

Race around two Boston Harbor islands with handicapped scoring.

The race is sponsored by the Boston Harbor Island Alliance.  The race is described on their website at URL

          http://www.islandalliance.org/regatta.asp

We leave Rowes Wharf about 08:30, and start racing at a time defined by the race committee.  Each set of boats with the same handicap rating start at the same time, and race against all the other boats in the fleet.  We will be assigned this start time Friday evening at the skippers' meeting.

Racing usually ends about 3:30 - 4:00 PM, and their is a party and awards ceremony on Georges Island immediately following the end.  [Dunno what/where the partying is if there's a lot of rain!?]

Crew can return to Boston of ferries from the island, and some will bring Nevermore back to Rowes Wharf.

Please advise Thom by email IMMEDIATELY if you want to participate.  We've planned and announced this day's sailing at the last minute, unfortunately.

The Rowes Wharf (actually Boston Sailing Club) launch may not be working at the 8:00 - 8:30 AM time we need to start off, so we MAY bring the boat to the dock used when we had the previous boat.  We'll have to give you instructions on how to get there by cellphone 781-354-1113.    And as always, please check in to this cellphone when you get near Rowes Wharf, to coordinate and minimize launch trips to Nevermore if the launch is available.

If you can't log on to sailing website, Thom will "register" you right here on the front page of this announcement.

If you're new to sailing with Nevermore skippers, please email Thom a resume of your sailing experience on larger boats.  All that's needed is about 3 sentences of what you've DONE, and on what KIND of boat.  We prefer people who have sailed Nevermore, and/or have raced a bit or more on big boats, etc.  However, we most likely have room for a couple less-experienced people.

We split the entrance fee, and the tix for the party.  Probably $20-25 will cover everything.
